Bishkek, May 12, 2026 /Kabar/. The new Kelechek municipal market, designed for over 1,300 retail outlets, opened in Osh city. The city administration announced this.
The opening ceremony was attended by Osh Mayor Zhanarbek Akaev, City Council Chairman Bolot Baetov, entrepreneurs, and residents.
As the mayor noted, the new market was created to streamline trade and improve conditions for entrepreneurs.
The market includes retail outlets measuring 7 and 15 square meters. Vendors are provided with the necessary working conditions. Over 1,000 parking spaces, a separate fruit and vegetable market, additional retail areas, and service facilities have also been established.
The city administration reported that, at the request of entrepreneurs, the land rent has been reduced by 50%, and the number of shuttle services to the market has been increased.
Furthermore, work is currently underway to widen Osmonov Street and construct alternative roads to improve accessibility.
According to the municipality, about 30 small and large markets in the city are currently being gradually transferred to the Kelechek market.
