Bishkek, June 1, 2026. /Kabar/. North-South alternative road, one of the largest infrastructure projects in Kyrgyzstan, has been temporarily opened until November of this year.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the commissioning of the new road will significantly save time in connecting the south and north of the country.

"Taking into account the safety and advantages of the new road, drivers will be able to travel the distance from Manas to Balykchy in just 6 hours. This will reduce the time compared to previous routes by up to half," the report says.

The ministry of transport urges drivers to strictly follow traffic rules, despite the high quality of the new road.

The responsible services also warned that there is a risk of rockfall in some sections and urged drivers to be careful.
