Osh and Kashgar establish sister-city relations

Bishkek, Oct. 28, 2025. /Kabar/. The cities of Osh in Kyrgyzstan and Kashgar in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region have officially become sister cities, the Osh City Mayor’s Office reported.

A delegation from Kashgar, headed by Mayor Veli Asim, visited Osh, where a bilateral meeting was held at the Osh Mayor’s Office. The delegation was welcomed by local officials, including First Deputy Mayor Adilet Sharshenaly uulu.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in various fields, including trade, culture, and tourism. Following the discussions, an agreement establishing sister-city relations between Osh and Kashgar was formally signed.

In addition, business representatives from both cities held meetings to explore partnership opportunities and agreed to enhance cooperation in mutually beneficial sectors.

According to the municipality, the new partnership will serve as an important step in deepening economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between the two historic cities.
