Bishkek, Jan. 22, 2026 /Kabar/. On 20 January 2026, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, participated in and delivered a speech at the Global Tourism Forum Davos 2026, held at the Euronews Hub in Davos. The forum was organized by the World Tourism Forum Institute in cooperation with Euronews and took place during the World Economic Forum Week.

The forum served as a sovereign-level platform focusing on the intersection of geopolitics, economic security, and the future of the global travel economy.

During his remarks, Secretary General Omuraliev shared the OTS’s strategic vision for tourism and cultural cooperation, emphasizing tourism as an effective instrument of soft power that strengthens international trust, regional stability, and people-to-people engagement through enhanced mobility.

He noted that OTS member states are aligning public policy with sustainable tourism objectives to strengthen national economic resilience. He also presented concrete tourism initiatives implemented under the OTS framework, including the Turkic Silk Road Initiative, as well as ongoing efforts to expand international cooperation in the tourism sector.

Within the framework of the forum, the Secretary General held meetings with high-level participants and gave an interview to Euronews. During these engagements, Ambassador Omuraliev highlighted the Turkic region’s growing economic potential and broad cooperation opportunities in tourism. He stated that the Turkic region, stretching from Anatolia to Central Asia and from the Caspian to the Altai, lies at the crossroads of civilizations, historic trade routes, and cultural exchange. In this context, it was noted that Turkic states collectively attract nearly 100 million international tourists annually, marking a historic milestone for the OTS community.

The forum featured high-level contributions from global leaders, including the Prime Minister of Mongolia and the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, as well as ministers, senior officials, media leaders, and representatives of the private sector. Discussions focused on tourism as a pillar of national economic resilience and state leadership in global governance.

The program also included a Public-Private Partnership Dialogue and a Sustainability Alliances Leadership Roundtable dedicated to scaling climate resilience and net-zero delivery within the hospitality sector.
