Issyk-Kul, Sept. 6, 2026 /Kabar/. Over 600 cultural events were planned for the VI World Nomad Games: concerts, international festivals, theatrical programs, exhibitions, master classes, aitysh (a popular folk dance), competitions, national rituals, ethnomusic projects, and displays of traditional clothing, cuisine, and folk art, deputy minister of culture, information, and youth policy of Kyrgyzstan Askaraly Madaminov told reporters on Sunday.
According to him, cultural events were held at the Kyrchyn tract, the Chyngyz Aitmatov Rukh Ordo Cultural and Ethnographic Center, the Dordoi Nomad Amphitheater, the Cholpon-Ata Hippodrome, and the Kurmanzhan Datka Center for Nomadic Civilization.
"The main goal of the cultural program is to showcase nomadic culture as a living heritage, preserve traditions, present them to the modern world, and create conditions for the further development of cultural tourism and creative industries," he said.
The 6th World Nomad Games were held in Kyrgyzstan from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6, 2026, with the main competitions taking place in the Issyk-Kul region. More than 3,000 athletes from 109 countries participated in the Games.
The World Nomad Games are an international sports and cultural event dedicated to preserving and promoting the heritage of nomadic peoples. The Games bring together traditional sports and ethnosports with cultural performances, music, crafts, and academic activities focused on nomadic history and traditions.
