Moscow, Sept. 21, 2026 /Kabar/. A photo exhibition titled "History and Development: 65 Years of Information Exchange in the Asia-Pacific Region" has opened in Moscow as part of a media forum dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA). The event is organized by the Russia's TASS News Agency, which holds the OANA chairmanship for the 2025–2028 term.
Speaking at the exhibition's opening, TASS Director General Andrey Kondrashov noted that the history of OANA reflects the history of journalism across the entire region. "Technologies, formats, and methods of information transmission have changed, but the core mission of journalism has remained constant: to deliver important and relevant information and to tell stories about events and people," he remarked. "The photographs presented here offer a view of the region through the lenses of OANA agencies, capturing events, culture, traditions, achievements, and the everyday lives of the people."
The director general of TASS expressed his gratitude to the OANA agencies that submitted their photographs for the exhibition.
OANA (Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies) is a major international media alliance established under the auspices of UNESCO; it brings together more than 40 leading state news agencies from the Asia-Pacific region. OANA members account for two-thirds of the global flow of news. The organization was founded on UNESCO's initiative in 1961.
OANA’s primary objective is to facilitate and encourage the direct exchange of news, photographs, and video content among Asia-Pacific nations, as well as to address imbalances in information dissemination. Members actively collaborate in combating fake news, including through partnerships with international fact-checking associations.
