Cholpon-Ata, July 30, 2026. /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov briefed media representatives on the results of his talks with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and touched upon the main areas of cooperation between the two countries.
According to the head of state, the talks covered all areas, from political and security issues to economy, transport, energy, border, cultural and humanitarian ties.
“We highly appreciate the development of bilateral cooperation based on mutual respect, good neighborliness and strategic partnership,” said Sadyr Zhaparov.
He noted that the resolution of key issues on the agenda of the two countries has opened a new stage in relations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
Zhaparov said that Supreme Interstate Council has been established to implement the agreements reached, as well as special attention has been paid to the development of trade and economic ties.
According to the president, the parties agreed to strengthen the activities of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund, expand financing for joint projects, support regional initiatives and create favorable conditions for business.
In addition, it was noted that cooperation will continue on the construction of the Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan - China railway and the implementation of major regional projects such as the Kambar-Ata-1 hydroelectric power station.
The president also touched upon border issues and said that agreements on the state border and documents related to checkpoints had been signed. He noted that the number of checkpoints had been increased from 15 to 30, improving the conditions for the movement of citizens.
Kyrgyzstan supports opening the Consulate General of Kyrgyzstan in Andijan, and it was noted that this step will contribute to the development of trade, tourism, logistics, and cultural and humanitarian ties.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted that one of the important results of the visit was the signing of a package of bilateral documents in the fields of agriculture, social security, culture, tourism, and education.
“I am confident that all the decisions that will be implemented will serve as a solid foundation for further strengthening relations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan,” the president said.
He invited Shavkat Mirziyoyev to participate in the opening ceremony of the VI World Nomad Games, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, and the second Bishkek+25 mountain summit to be held in 2027.
“I am confident that the results of today’s state visit will contribute to the prosperity and development of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and to strengthening peace, stability, and mutual trust in the region,” Sadyr Zhaparov concluded.
