President Zhaparov launches technical operation of cable cars at Ala-Too Resort

Bishkek, July 2, 2026. /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov today, July 2, launched the technical commissioning of cable cars within the framework of the state all-season mountain cluster "Ala-Too Resort" in Ak-Suu district of Issyk-Kul region.

The head of state got acquainted with the progress of construction of the infrastructure of the future high-altitude resort.

According to project representatives, today the construction of the B-1 cable cars with a length of 1727 meters and B-2 with a length of 2296 meters has been completed.

It is also planned to build ski trails of various levels with a total length of about 120 kilometers within the framework of the project. This will allow accepting all categories of vacationers and holding international competitions in the future after receiving the appropriate certificates.

Particular attention is paid to the safety and reliability of the facility. Protective nets, engineering protection, navigation and drainage systems are being installed. In addition, water supply facilities are being built, including the main water intake facility with a daily capacity of 3,200 cubic meters of water, drinking water tanks for 12,000 people, a water treatment plant, and a fire-fighting pool. The electricity supply system is also being actively developed.

At the same time, major road construction is underway. A 65-kilometer highway is being built in the Karakol-Jyrgalan direction, asphalt is being laid on the Boz-Uchuk-Jyrgalan road (14.5 kilometers), and an alternative road with a length of 8.5 kilometers is being built.

During the event, President Sadyr Zhaparov pressed the button on the elevator control panel and launched the first two cable cars. He also laid a time box in the foundation of the four more cable car stations, which are planned to be put into operation by the end of 2026.

The opening of the first stage of the resort is planned for December 2026. By this time, the first ski slopes, six cable cars, administrative buildings, rental points and parking infrastructure will be put into operation.

After the project is fully implemented, the total length of ski slopes in the resort town of Jyrgalan will be approximately 120 kilometers, and the total length of all slopes in the three regions of Ala-Too Resort will be approximately 250 kilometers. The resort will welcome up to 4 million tourists per year and create approximately 7 thousand new jobs.

Ala-Too Resort project is one of the main strategic initiatives of Kyrgyzstan and is being implemented under the personal initiative of President Sadyr Zhaparov under his supervision.
