Bishkek, Oct. 6, 2025. /Kabar/. On October 6, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov met with Rachel Conlan, Global Chief Marketing Officer at Binance.
The sides discussed current issues related to the development of the digital economy, including the implementation of modern solutions in virtual assets and blockchain technologies.
The president noted that the Secretariat of the National Council for the Development of Virtual Assets and Blockchain Technologies is working on the release of a new digital asset, the KGST, which will be pegged to the national currency, the som.
President also noted that work is underway with National Bank to create a digital som, a state-issued electronic currency. A demo version of the platform is already operational in test mode.
Its testing using real data is planned for the near future. Future plans include integrating the digital som with the KGST to expand its use domestically and in international settlements.
Rachel Conlan, in turn, expressed gratitude to Sadyr Zhaparov for his proactive approach to creating a local digital asset ecosystem and noted that the country's initiative is generating broad international interest. She emphasized Binance's extensive partner network and significant user base, which could facilitate the project's advancement.
During the meeting, Rachel Conlan also noted that Binance founder Changpeng Zhao's visit to Kyrgyzstan had received international attention and expressed the Binance team's willingness to participate in subsequent stages, including long-term promotion, communications, and educational initiatives.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed mutual interest in further deepening cooperation, sharing experiences, and supporting initiatives aimed at developing an innovative and secure digital economy.
