President Zhaparov opens Islamic Academy in Tokmok

Bishkek, Sept. 15, 2025 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Zhaparov took part in the opening of the Islamic Academy in Tokmok, Chui region.

According to the presidential press service, Zhaparov in his opening speech, emphasized a beginning of new stage in sphere of education and religion. The Islamic Academy is an institution that will become a symbol of enlightenment, spiritual growth and reliance on traditional Islamic values.

He also emphasized that in Kyrgyzstan, legal norms concerning education and religion meet with international standards.

The Islamic Academy was created in accordance with the President Decree as a specialized institution aimed at developing the system of higher education in the field of theology and religious studies, training highly qualified specialists.

The campus area is 2 hectares, including an academic building, a gym and a dormitory. The Academy is designed for 400 students.

The Academy is financed from the state budget, operates in accordance with state policy in the religious sphere and serves as a scientific basis for the study and dissemination of the values ​​of traditional Islam.

Speaking about the growing threats of religious extremism and radicalism around the world, including in Central Asia, Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that these phenomena directly undermine national security and contribute to the spread of ideologies based on violence. In this regard, there is a growing need for objective, systematized and scientifically based religious education that corresponds to traditional Islamic values. The Islamic Academy meets that growing need.

As the president noted, the main mission of the Academy is high-quality theological education, the development of scientific research, the protection of young people from radical influences and the provision of religious education in accordance with the state educational system. Also, given the relevance of Islamic financing, the Academy will develop educational programs on Islamic financial systems, Islamic banking and economic projects.

In conclusion of his speech, the head of state expressed his gratitude to the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Foundation from the United Arab Emirates, representatives of the scientific community and public organizations for their contribution to the implementation of this large-scale project.
