Bishkek, June 19, 2026. /Kabar/. Today, June 18, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov received member of Turkish Parliament Kürsad Zorlu in Cholpon-Ata.
The meeting discussed current issues of the Kyrgyz-Turkish strategic partnership, the development of interparliamentary cooperation, and prospects for deepening cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
President Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan places special emphasis on strengthening cooperation with Turkiye and highly values the friendly and brotherly relations that have developed between the two countries.
The head of state noted the progressive development of cooperation between Jogorku Kenesh and the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye.
In turn, Turkish MP Kürsad Zorlu thanked Sadyr Zhaparov for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He noted that he has closely followed the developments in Kyrgyzstan for many years and is pleased to see the strengthening of Kyrgyz-Turkish relations.
Kürsad Zorlu emphasized that in recent years, cooperation between the two fraternal countries has reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership, opening up new opportunities for deepening collaboration in various areas.
Noting the positive dynamics of trade and economic ties, he expressed confidence that the current volume of mutual trade, which has reached approximately $1.6 billion, could be increased to $5 billion in the future thanks to the joint efforts of the two countries' leadership.
He also congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2027–2028.
Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further deepening the Kyrgyz-Turkish strategic partnership and expanding cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
