Bishkek, Aug. 28, 2025 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov took part in the opening of a service center for electric and gas buses of the Bishkek Mayor’s Office.

The press service of the head of state said that the territory with a total area of 4.7 hectares houses repair bays, an administrative and household building, auxiliary premises and infrastructure facilities. The park is capable of simultaneously operating 150 electric buses and gas buses, which significantly increases transport accessibility and the capacity of the city route network.

The head of state noted that the opening of the electric bus service and charging center after reconstruction is another significant step towards modern transport development, an environmentally friendly city and the creation of comfortable conditions for the movement of city residents.

He identified the issue of public transport development as one of the state's priorities in an effort to improve the daily mobility of city residents and create a convenient infrastructure for them.

"Over the past two years, we have purchased more than 1,000 gas-powered buses, and we will continue to update the transport fleet in the future. However, an acute environmental problem has now emerged. In addition to ease of travel, residents of the capital need clean air. And such modern solutions are our responsibility to the future," said Sadyr Zhaparov.

He also recalled that trolleybus depot No. 2 was built and put into operation in 1971. With the support of the Asian Development Bank, 120 new electric buses were delivered to Bishkek. And the depot was completely reconstructed and modernized into a modern charging and technical center.

"The new transport complex is one of the largest projects that takes Bishkek's public transport system to a new level. It will ensure the reliability of city buses and electric buses, creating conditions for uninterrupted and high-quality service for passengers," the head of state emphasized.

In conclusion, Sadyr Zhaparov addressed the drivers, urging them to observe the driving culture and approach the stop in such a way as not to interfere with other drivers and not to create traffic jams, including for cars, noting that he himself often witnesses such situations. And addressing the passengers, the Head of State emphasized the importance of showing respect for other passengers and public transport, as well as appreciating the continuous work of public transport drivers.

After the official part, President Sadyr Zhaparov inspected the depot, then took a ride on an electric bus and a bus converted from a trolleybus.
