Bishkek, April 29, 2026 /Kabar/. "You have become the first head of state from the African continent to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan. This is undoubtedly an important historic event for both our countries," President Sadyr Zhaparov said at the meeting with Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Togolese Republic Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé at Yntymak Ordo Palace.

According to the head of state, diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Togo were established in 2015, but contacts have been inactive since then.

"We are determined to take concrete steps to strengthen the bonds of friendship between our peoples. I am confident that your current visit will create a solid foundation for developing political dialogue and expanding bilateral cooperation," said Sadyr Zhaparov.

As a reminder, Sadyr Zhaparov is currently meeting with Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Togolese Republic, at the Yntymak Ordo presidential administration. During the visit, a number of documents are expected to be signed in the areas of investment, agriculture, education, healthcare, and other areas.

It is worth noting that the parties intend to strengthen comprehensive bilateral cooperation. Despite their geographical distance, the countries share similar positions on global issues at the international level. Kyrgyzstan has experience in organic agriculture, while Togo has extensive experience in growing tropical crops.

There are also plans to develop cooperation in education, including student exchanges and cultural exchanges. The countries have mutual export opportunities. Similarities in tourism are also noted: Kyrgyzstan is developing tourism and ecotourism, while Togo attracts the world with its African culture and nature.
