Bishkek, June 18, 2026. /Kabar/. Today, June 18, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov held talks with President of Albania Bayram Begay within the framework of his official visit to Kyrgyzstan.
They discussed wide range of topical issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as the prospects for further interaction.
Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that Bayram Begay's first official visit is an important historical event for the two countries and expressed his confidence that today a new page in Kyrgyz-Albanian relations will be opened.
He noted that despite the geographical distance, the two peoples are connected by the Islamic religion, common spiritual values, and a rich historical and cultural heritage.
President Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that he considers Albania one of the most important partners in Europe and wished the country success on its path to joining the European Union.
“We are interested in working together to further deepen trade and economic ties, increase the volume of mutual trade turnover, as well as activate investment cooperation. There are good opportunities for expanding cooperation in areas such as tourism, processing industry, transport and digital development,” the head of state said.
Sadyr Zhaparov also touched upon Albania’s achievements in the field of digitalization of public services and proposed joint cooperation in this area, taking into account Kyrgyzstan’s capabilities.
In turn, Albanian President Bajram Begai noted that today's talks will open up new opportunities and the potential of cooperation between the countries will be fully realized through joint efforts.
“Despite the geographical distance between us, our principles are the same: this is a common responsibility and deep respect for the values of sovereign states serving the well-being of people. Therefore, I am deeply confident that this visit will bring our countries closer and lay a solid foundation for mutually beneficial cooperation,” said Bajram Begai.
He also touched upon the prospects for cooperation in the economy, education, culture and other areas of mutual interest. Bayram Begay also confirmed his desire for close cooperation in a multilateral format.
In addition, the President of Albania invited Sadyr Zhaparov to pay an official visit to Albania in 2027, which he warmly accepted.
The heads of state noted the need to strengthen the contractual and legal framework and confirmed their mutual interest in promising areas of cooperation.
As a result of the talks, the leaders signed a Joint Statement on the further development of Kyrgyz-Albanian relations.
