Bishkek, July 7, 2026 /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov held talks today, July 7, with President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari.
During the meeting, the leaders held a thorough exchange of views on a wide range of bilateral and multilateral cooperation issues.
Welcoming the distinguished guest, Sadyr Zhaparov recalled the talks held during his state visit to Islamabad last December.
The head of state emphasized that those meetings opened a new chapter in Kyrgyz-Pakistani relations, laying a solid foundation for strengthening mutual political trust and intensifying bilateral cooperation.
Building on centuries-old ties of friendship and mutual respect, the president reaffirmed that Kyrgyzstan views Pakistan as a reliable and priority partner in South Asia.
"I am confident that today's meeting will add new meaning to our cooperation and will be a good opportunity to strengthen political dialogue and elevate trade and economic ties to a qualitatively new level," said Sadyr Zhaparov.
In this context, he emphasized the importance of regularly holding business forums, exhibitions, and B2B meetings, and reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan's readiness to implement joint projects with Pakistan in the halal industry, agricultural processing, logistics, tourism, energy, and industry.
In turn, Asif Ali Zardari expressed interest in further expanding bilateral cooperation, noting the significant potential for developing interaction in trade, economic, investment, and humanitarian spheres.
He also congratulated President Sadyr Zhaparov on Kyrgyzstan's successful election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. It was emphasized that this new status will enable the country to effectively contribute to ensuring global peace and security in the international arena.
Asif Ali Zardari emphasized his commitment to close cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and noted that relations between the countries are based on a solid foundation of shared historical and cultural ties.
"Geographical proximity and shared heritage on the continent have historically brought the two people together, and today there are no obstacles to further strengthening and deepening our partnership," the Pakistani president said.
At the end of the talks, the leaders reaffirmed their mutual commitment to maintaining regular political dialogue and intensifying contacts at all levels.
As a practical step to solidify these intentions, the parties consolidated the results of the negotiations by signing a Joint Statement, which will lay the foundation for establishing a strategic partnership and define key guidelines for deepening trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
