Bishkek, Oct. 7, 2026 /Kabar/. The epidemiological situation regarding the plague in Kyrgyzstan remains stable, and the risk of the disease spreading during the autumn period is extremely low. Epidemiologist Kubanychbek Bekturdiev told Kabar.
According to him, plague activity is most likely to occur during the spring and summer, when the infection's vectors animals and fleas are most active.
"The situation here is stable. Furthermore, the weather has turned cooler, and marmots have gone into hibernation in their burrows. Therefore, the risk of the disease spreading is extremely low. With the onset of cold weather, the activity of fleas which act as plague vectors also decreases. They inhabit various animals, including marmots," the expert explained.
According to the specialist, the plague is treatable if medical help is provided on time.
"It is possible to fully recover from this disease if one seeks medical attention on time. Treatment involves the use of appropriate antibiotics," Bekturdiev concluded.
