Bishkek, March 31, 2025. /Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, as part of a working visit to Khujand, today, March 31, together with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, took part in the ceremony of launching the 500 kV Datka-Sughd line as part of the CASA-1000 project via videoconference.

The presidential press service reported that before the ceremony, the energy ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan reported on the readiness to launch the 500 kV Datka-Sughd power transmission line. Then, using a demonstration lever, the heads of state jointly launched the 500 kV Datka-Sughd power transmission line.

The leaders noted that this project is of particular importance, as it unites the energy systems of the two countries, strengthens energy security and makes a significant contribution to the sustainable development of Central Asia.

In 2025, construction work was completed within the framework of the CASA-1000 Project in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Green electricity will be exported in the summer from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Thus, as part of the implementation of the CASA-1000 Project, new energy facilities were built: the construction of a 500 kV power transmission line from the Datka Substation in Kyrgyzstan to the Sughd 500 kV Substation in Tajikistan, with a length of about 480 km, was completed. Within the framework of this project, 1,243 supports were installed in Kyrgyzstan, a 456 km long power transmission line was built, as well as an additional 500 kV cell at the Datka substation. From this substation, the line runs through the Jalal-Abad, Osh and Batken regions to the border with Tajikistan. The CASA-1000 project opens a new page in the history of cooperation between the countries of Central and South Asia, contributing to the strengthening of good-neighborly relations, improving the well-being of the population and ensuring sustainable economic growth in the region.
