Bishkek, Nov. 4, 2025 /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov criticized Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev's actions in connection with the National Electric Grid of Kyrgyzstan's call for the public to switch to an "unlimited tariff" for electricity, presidential press secretary Askat Alagozov reports.
The head of state noted that such initiatives are unacceptable during times of electricity shortages and could lead to social division.
President Sadyr Zhaparov ordered the immediate cancellation of this tariff and the implementation of comprehensive measures to ensure fair and equal access to electricity for citizens during the winter.
For information: Ministry of Energy previously reduced the power consumption limit from 5 kW to 3 kW. They noted that the limitation applies to peak consumption hours and is intended to reduce grid load. They later stated that if consumers lack sufficient power consumption, they can switch to an unlimited tariff. The cost of the unlimited tariff is 3.81 soms per 1 kWh.
