Bishkek, June 25, 2025. /Kabar/. Today, June 25, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov held talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya as part of his official visit to Malaysia.

The parties discussed current issues and prospects for further development of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Malaysia in the political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other areas of mutual interest.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his deep gratitude for the warm and cordial welcome extended to him last year during his official visit to Kyrgyzstan, noting the natural wealth and hospitality of our country.

The prime minister particularly emphasized the significantly strengthened bilateral relations between the countries and invited members of his Government to visit Kyrgyzstan to get acquainted with the opportunities for developing further cooperation and to get acquainted with the beauty of the country.

In turn, President Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that he shares the prime minister's assessment of the Kyrgyz-Malaysian friendship. He noted that the visit of the Malaysian prime minister to Kyrgyzstan last year was a historic event in the development of Kyrgyz-Malaysian cooperation, giving a powerful impetus to strengthening bilateral ties.

Sadyr Zhaparov expressed confidence that the talks will take the friendly and partnership relations between Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia to a new level.

In this context, he emphasized that since last year, Kyrgyz-Malaysian relations have been actively developing in various areas, opening up new areas for cooperation.

Sadyr Zhaparov noted that Kyrgyzstan is interested in cooperation with Malaysia in a number of promising areas, for example, in expanding mutual import and export of products, in particular in the export of environmentally friendly products of Kyrgyzstan to Malaysia: meat, honey, nuts, etc.

The head of state emphasized with satisfaction that cooperation in the halal industry between the Kyrgyz Republic and Malaysia is actively developing and expressed interest in developing interaction in the regulation and certification of halal products, taking into account the best practices of Malaysia.

The head of state also proposed considering the possibility of building joint halal parks in Kyrgyzstan, noting the readiness of the state to provide the necessary assistance.

The president emphasized in his speech that Kyrgyzstan occupies one of the leading places in the hydropower market of Central Asia. Supporting Malaysia's policy of transition to a green economy, he invited to participate in projects for the construction of small and large hydroelectric power plants, renewable energy stations in Kyrgyzstan. He also expressed interest in attracting advanced Malaysian technologies to the energy sector of Kyrgyzstan.

Sadyr Zhaparov invited the Malaysian side to actively develop cooperation in the field of tourism and proposed to consider the possibility of building high-level resorts and hotels according to Malaysian standards.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim noted the significant potential for further development of Kyrgyz-Malaysian cooperation in various areas, including education, medicine, information technology, green economy, halal industry and others.

The prime minister emphasized Malaysia's readiness to consider the possibility of studying various initiatives and promoting their practical implementation.

He proposed that the competent ministries of the two countries work out specific mechanisms and ways to intensify mutually beneficial cooperation on the spot.

The visit of President Sadyr Zhaparov is the first official visit of the head of state of the Kyrgyz Republic to Malaysia in the last thirty years. At the end of the meeting, President Sadyr Zhaparov invited Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to visit Kyrgyzstan on a state visit.
