Bishkek, Sept. 1, 2025 /Kabar/. On August 31, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov held a video call with founder of Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange, Changpeng Zhao.
According to the presidential press service, during the conversation, Changpeng Zhao congratulated Sadyr Zhaparov and the people of Kyrgyzstan on Independence Day.
Then the progress of the implementation of the agreements in the field of development of virtual assets and blockchain technologies reached during the negotiations between Sadyr Zhaparov and Changpeng Zhao in Kyrgyzstan in May of this year was discussed.
The head of state emphasized that the country is working to improve the legislative framework for the development of the virtual assets sphere. The current legislation in Kyrgyzstan on virtual assets does not cover many new types of tokens that are actively used in the world market, such as stablecoins and tokens backed by real assets (RWA). In this vein, he noted the advisability of starting work on the tokenization of real assets of Kyrgyzstan.
In addition, he noted that the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan is effectively working on the digital som project. In the future, it can be linked to the KGST stablecoin, which is also currently in the development stage and technical work is underway. This will allow not only to use it within the country, but also to apply it for international payments, convenient transfers and attracting investments. The President emphasized that the CDBC = KGST bundle will make the digital som more reliable and in demand.
The head of state also focused on the importance of issues related to increasing cryptocurrency literacy in Kyrgyzstan, in particular the launch of Binance Academy online courses in Kyrgyz and Russian, as well as training for representatives of the National Bank, law enforcement agencies and in several universities in Kyrgyzstan for students who want to learn blockchain and work with cryptocurrencies.
In turn, Changpeng Zhao noted the relevance of educational programs, training to improve cryptocurrency literacy in Kyrgyzstan based on the Binance Academy. He also expressed readiness to further support the digital som project. In addition, Changpeng Zhao expressed readiness to work together on the tokenization of real assets.
Following the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of the effective work of the National Council on Virtual Assets and Blockchain Technologies under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, and also discussed the issues of holding the next meeting of the Council.
The video conference was attended by the Head of the Secretariat of the National Council on Virtual Assets and Blockchain Technologies under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic F. Iminov and the Regional Representative of Binance for Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Africa K. Khomyakov.
