Bishkek, April 3, 2025. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, today, on April 3, met with President of the European Council Antonio Costa as part of a working visit to Uzbekistan.

An exchange of views took place on issues of deepening trade, economic and investment cooperation, and prospects for joint implementation of projects in the field of hydropower and transport communications were discussed, the presidential press service reported.

President Zhaparov noted that Kyrgyzstan's rich natural resources, including minerals and significant renewable energy potential, represent an attractive area for European investors, the report said.

"In 2024, Kyrgyzstan's total trade turnover with the European Union increased. In the future, we aim to further increase the volume of bilateral trade, as well as export environmentally friendly, natural products and rare earth metals to European countries,” Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized, adding that one of the most important issues for Kyrgyzstan is the transition to a green economy.

President of the European Council Antonio Costa, in turn, confirmed the EU’s readiness to continue the dialogue and support the Kyrgyz Republic in matters of sustainable development, trade and economic cooperation and adaptation to global challenges.

He especially noted that Kyrgyzstan has demonstrated significant success in strengthening regional cooperation in recent years.

“You have managed to reach an agreement on the settlement of state borders with your neighboring countries in the spirit of good neighborliness and brotherhood. Right now, we need to resolve all issues peacefully. And you are doing a very good job,” Antonio Costa said.
