Sadyr Zhaparov proposes expanding cooperation with Utah in mining, tourism, and IT
Bishkek, Sept. 20, 2026 /Kabar/. On September 19, during a working visit to the USA, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov met with Utah Governor Spencer Cox and Senate President Stuart Adams at the Capitol building in Salt Lake City, the presidential press service said.
First of all, the head of state thanked his hosts for their hospitality and warm welcome; he also congratulated the leadership of Utah and the American people on the upcoming 250th anniversary of U.S. independence and wished the country prosperity and continued development.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for Kyrgyz-American cooperation, as well as opportunities to expand collaboration between Kyrgyzstan and the state of Utah in the economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Given the potential of both Kyrgyzstan and Utah, special attention was paid to cooperation in areas such as the mining industry, tourism, sports, information technology, finance, and infrastructure development.
Sadyr Zhaparov briefed his hosts on Kyrgyzstan’s recent achievements and the large-scale projects currently being implemented across the country. He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is ready for mutually beneficial cooperation, the strengthening of business ties, and providing support to investors from the U.S.
The president also noted that the U.S. kok-boru team made a strong impression at the recent 6th World Nomad Games, and that the team captain—Utah native Ladd Howell—demonstrated exceptional athletic skill.
Governor Spencer Cox, in turn, thanked Sadyr Zhaparov for accepting the invitation to visit Utah and expressed interest in developing mutually beneficial cooperation.
Welcoming the Kyrgyz delegation, Senate President Stuart Adams noted that Utah is a highly developed state economically and possesses significant potential in the mining sector.
Sadyr Zhaparov highlighted opportunities for joint work in the mining, tourism, education, and finance sectors, as well as the possibility of establishing direct flights between Kyrgyzstan and the U.S.
In conclusion, the President invited Governor Spencer Cox to visit Kyrgyzstan at a time convenient for him.
Spencer Cox graciously accepted the invitation.
