Sadyr Zhaparov receives members of Council of Parliamentary Assembly of CSTO member states

Bishkek, May 19, 2025. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov today, May 19, received members of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Member States of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

The press service of the head of state reported that issues of regional security, strengthening inter-parliamentary interaction and further development of cooperation within the CSTO were discussed.

Addressing the meeting participants, the Kyrgyz president noted that the modern world faces many new challenges, including terrorism, extremism, cyber threats and climate change. He stressed that all these factors put pressure on stability in our countries and require consolidation of efforts.

The president outlined the significant role of parliaments in developing and supporting effective mechanisms for interstate cooperation.

"Within the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation, we see it important to actively develop common initiatives aimed at strengthening political dialogue, developing the economy, improving infrastructure, and increasing the well-being of our countries and peoples," Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized.

He emphasized that efforts within the CSTO should be aimed at building prompt and coordinated actions in the spirit of alliance, mutual understanding and support. He noted that Kyrgyzstan, as the presiding party, is firmly committed to strengthening the organization, increasing its authority in ensuring peace and stability in the region, as well as respecting the sovereign interests of member states and their right to their own development model.

Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Vyacheslav Volodin expressed gratitude to President Sadyr Japarov for the warm welcome and highly appreciated Kyrgyzstan's contribution to the development of integration processes within the organization.

He noted the importance of the parliamentary dimension in the activities of the Organization and emphasized that the efforts of the Parliamentary Assembly, combined with the decisions of the heads of state, allow for a prompt response to emerging challenges and ensure coordination between member states.

CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov in his speech briefly spoke about the work done by the Secretariat within the framework of Kyrgyzstan's Chairmanship in the Organization and expressed confidence that the coordinated work of all bodies will contribute to strengthening peace, security and stable development of the entire region.
