Bishkek, Sept. 1, 2025 /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, as part of a working visit to the People's Republic of China, spoke at the SCO Summit in Tianjin.

According to the presidential press service, the theme of the summit was "Implementation of multilateralism, ensuring regional security and promoting sustainable development."

In his speech, the Kyrgyz president noted that the path taken by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization over almost two and a half decades convincingly confirms the political wisdom and correctness of the principles underlying this association.

"The organization has become the largest transregional association, playing a systemic role not only in the affairs of the Eurasian space, but also at the global level.

Today, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is known for its commitment to international peace and stability.

Every year, new ideas and initiatives appear within the SCO; the agenda is filled with new areas, which opens up a number of opportunities for us to further build up the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation," Sadyr Zhaparov said.

He noted that the organization is also successfully coping with the task of protecting member states from the threat of the three evil forces - terrorism, separatism and extremism.

In his speech, the head emphasized that the Treaty on Long-Term Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation signed in 2007 laid the foundation for the transition of the SCO member states to a new level of interaction.

Today, conditions are being created for a qualitative breakthrough, primarily in the trade and economic sphere, which should become the core of cooperation.

Sadyr Zhaparov outlined the special potential of such areas as green energy and the digital economy, while the interaction covers a wide range of areas - from science and investment to culture, youth exchanges and healthcare. He also pointed out that, given the dynamic development of the economies of the SCO states, observers and partners, it is important to develop agreed mechanisms for combining efforts.

"Expanding the format to SCO Plus allows our Organization to increase the scale and funding of projects, as well as promote the economic integration of a large number of countries, including by creating an international transport network with a center in Central Asia.

Thus, both observer countries and dialogue partners, as well as countries that are not members of the Organization, can participate in projects of SCO member states, which promotes dialogue between Asia and Europe,” the head of state noted.
