Bishkek, May 19, 2026 /Kabar/. The working visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to Azerbaijan, which took place on May 17-18, has concluded.
At the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the head of state participated in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
The event was also attended by approximately 20 heads of state and government, high-ranking officials, heads of international organizations, and more than 45,000 delegates from 182 countries.
In his speech, Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized the sustainable development of mountainous regions. The president outlined strategic directions, including the implementation of water-saving technologies, safe waste disposal systems, and the prevention of pollution of natural landscapes.
Speaking about Bishkek's significant experience in this area, he noted that the first eco-technological solid waste recycling plant in Central Asia opened at the end of last year.
The head of state invited forum participants to learn more about this project at Kyrgyzstan's exhibition pavilion at Urban Expo, an exhibition held as part of WUF13.
Furthermore, talks were held on the sidelines of the between President Sadyr Zhaparov and Mauritius President Dharambir Gokhul.
The parties discussed further expansion of cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted that, in order to promote multilateral cooperation, Kyrgyzstan received observer status in the African Union in February of this year.
In turn, Dharambir Gokhul expressed readiness to expand bilateral cooperation and emphasized the need for mutual support between small states in the international arena.
Having completed his working visit to Azerbaijan, Sadyr Zhaparov returned to Cholpon-Ata on May 19.
