Bishkek, May 29, 2026. /Kabar/. In order to preserve the ecosystem of Issyk-Kul, another raid was conducted on large retail outlets in Cholpon-Ata city and Bosteri village.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision, as part of the explanatory work, shop owners were reminded that the use and sale of plastic bags in the Issyk-Kul region is prohibited by law.
Entrepreneurs must switch to biodegradable, biologically and environmentally safe bags, and the bags sold must have a special certificate of conformity issued by state bodies.
It was also announced that strict measures will be taken against retail outlets that violate the requirements of the law.
The owners of retail outlets have expressed their readiness to accept the restrictions on environmental protection and gradually switch to a safe alternative.
The ministry notes that polyethylene waste causes irreparable harm to the nature of the lake, and warns that such inspections will continue to be carried out regularly.
