Bishkek, June 12, 2026. /Kabar/. Today, Deputy Foreign Minister Meder Abakirov participated in the conference "Central Asia - the core of the SCO: a space for peace and joint development" in Dushanbe.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the participants exchanged views on topical issues of strengthening the role of Central Asia within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, ensuring peace, stability and sustainable development in the region, as well as expanding practical interaction between the SCO member states.
In his speech, Meder Abakirov noted that Central Asia has historically occupied a special place in the development of the SCO, being an important space of trust, good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation.
It was noted that Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship of the SCO is being held under the motto "25 years of the SCO: together towards lasting peace, development and prosperity."
It was emphasized that Kyrgyzstan, during its chairmanship of the SCO, attaches particular importance to further strengthening the organization and filling its agenda with concrete content.
