Bishkek, Oct. 30, 2025 /Kabar/. Russia remains the largest investor and strategic partner of Kyrgyzstan, stated Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Sergei Vakunov, speaking at the National Development Forum 2030.

According to the diplomat, Kyrgyzstan is demonstrating confident development, with large-scale infrastructure projects being implemented and modern technologies actively introduced.

“We are witnessing economic growth in Kyrgyz Republic, advanced technologies are being massively introduced, and most importantly, the well-being of citizens is growing. Russia has always been, is, and will be a reliable partner of Kyrgyzstan,” Vakunov emphasized.

The ambassador noted that Russia holds a leading position in terms of investment in the Kyrgyz economy. “The volume of Russian investments in the Kyrgyz economy amounts to almost 1.5 billion dollars. More than 1,800 joint ventures operate in the country. Three companies with Russian participation are among the TOP-10 largest taxpayers in Kyrgyzstan; subsidiary of Russian Platinum, Gazpromneft, and Light Plus,” he said.

Speaking about the prospects for bilateral cooperation, Sergei Vakunov stressed the importance of Kyrgyzstan's and Russia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union.

“EAEU unites the trade, energy, transport and logistics, and digital space, which brings impressive results. In 10 years of participation in the Union, Kyrgyzstan's GDP has grown fourfold, foreign trade turnover by 2.8 times, and the volume of industrial production by 3.3 times,” he noted.

Vakunov also recalled the activities of the Kyrgyz-Russian Development Fund, which continues to play a significant role in supporting the economy. “The fund has financed more than 3,600 projects totaling 965 million dollars, which has made a significant contribution to the development of the national economy,” the diplomat added.
