Bishkek, January 28, 2026. /Kabar/. Political scientist, expert in international relations and international law, and head of the Department of Political History at Kahramanmaraş University (Turkey), Professor Togrul Ismail, shared his opinion with the Kabar News Agency on the developments in the country since Sadyr Zhaparov’s inauguration as president.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan is currently focused on implementing its socioeconomic development plans. At the same time, the expert noted that under President Japarov’s leadership, the country has expanded its foreign policy ties.
“Kyrgyzstan places particular emphasis on the socio-economic sphere. In recent years, significant attention has been paid to the implementation of infrastructure projects, regional development, and an increase in social benefits. Oversight over the efficient use of budget funds has also been strengthened,” he said.
Overall, Professor Ismail noted that Sadyr Zhaparov’s presidency can be characterized as a period of strengthening statehood and searching for a new development model. He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan should continue to consolidate the stability it has achieved through institutional development, while maintaining social support measures and foreign policy flexibility.
“In foreign policy, under Sadyr Zhaparov’s leadership, Kyrgyzstan has asserted itself as an independent state. Strengthening cooperation with Turkic states, including Azerbaijan, Turkey, and the countries of Central Asia, has enhanced Bishkek’s international engagement and expanded opportunities for multi-vector diplomacy. This approach serves the country’s long-term interests,” the expert concluded.
