Bishkek, March 04, 2026. /Kabar/. The Uch-Kurgan Hydroelectric Power Plant, a branch of Electric Stations OJSC, is modernizing two hydroelectric units simultaneously. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the ministry, the dismantling of hydroelectric unit No. 2 is currently 90% complete. Work has begun on dismantling hydroelectric unit No. 1. Specialists are currently preparing to completely remove the obsolete equipment and install a modern hydroelectric unit.
The hydroelectric power plant consists of four hydroelectric units, each with an initial capacity of approximately 45 MW. It produced over 800 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. "Following the completion of the reconstruction at the Uch-Kurgan hydroelectric power plant, the hydroelectric unit's capacity will increase from 180 MW to 216 MW per year, producing over 984 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually," the statement says. The reconstructed hydroelectric units at Uch-Kurgan hydroelectric power plant will be commissioned by the end of 2026.
