Bishkek, Aug. 18, 2025 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz writer and playwright Sultan Rayev and poet Karbalas Bakirov, among other writers of Central Asia, were awarded the highest award of the Mihai Eminescu International Literary Academy – the Gold Medal.
The list of laureates, in addition to the Kyrgyz, includes poets Ulugbek Esdauletov, Akshumkar Serik, Akkushtap Baktykereeva, Tynchtykbek Abdukhakim, Meerkan Akdaulet from Kazakhstan, writer Osmon Azim from Uzbekistan, and Turkish prose writer Musa Kasym Aryzhan.
The award ceremony for one of the most prestigious literary prizes was held in Kazakhstan. The laureates received medals and an honorary title for their outstanding contribution to the development of world literature. The awards were presented to the laureates by Vice President of the Mihai Eminescu International Academy Catalin Bordianu. The award ceremony was attended by prominent cultural and artistic figures from Asia, Europe, Africa and America, as well as Nobel Prize nominees and members of the Swedish Academy.
“This award is not only recognition of our creativity, but also evidence of the growing interest in Central Asian literature in the international arena,” Sultan Rayev told the Kabar Agency.
