US special envoy comments on visa tightening for Kyrgyz citizens

Bishkek, Feb. 4, 2026 /Kabar/. U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Ambassador Sergio Gor, commented on the tightening of U.S. visa requirements for citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

Speaking at a press conference, Gor said the stricter visa measures were introduced for more than 70 countries worldwide and are not directed solely at Kyrgyzstan. He explained that the decision is part of broader efforts by the United States to combat illegal migration and strengthen border security.

Sergio Gor has arrived in Kyrgyzstan for working visit at the invitation of the Kyrgyz side. As part of the visit, Ambassador Sergio Gor will meet with President Sadyr Zhaparov and participate in the Central Asia - USA (B5+1) economic forum to be held in Bishkek on February 4-5.
