Bishkek, March 12, 2025. /Kabar/. The visit of the president of Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan will lead to the development of bilateral relations in a number of areas, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Cholpon Koichumanova told Kabar Agency.

The expert said that the foreign and domestic policy of a state largely depends on its geographical location. The most important strategic partners are, first of all, neighboring countries, since security and development issues are primarily related to them. Neighboring states influence not only domestic, but also foreign policy.

"The countries of Central Asia - our neighbors Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan - must maintain close ties for the sake of the country's future and its security. It must be recognized that after independence, unresolved issues periodically had a negative impact on bilateral relations. In the end, these problems had to be solved, since they would have surfaced sooner or later anyway. Being part of one geographical region, we cannot help but cooperate with neighboring states, in the same science, education, economy and politics. In addition, in the context of global processes, we need to unite and take into account regional interests. Only with a single political position the countries of Central Asia will be able to withstand these challenges. It is much more difficult to cope with them alone, and the only way for our states is unity and agreement,” the historian believes.

She noted that the official visit of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Bishkek will open up opportunities for solving various issues in Kyrgyz-Tajik cooperation.

“Resumption of contacts and mutual visits of the leaders of the two countries should contribute to the development of relations in the economy, science, education and culture. This opens the way to solving various issues in Kyrgyz-Tajik relations. It is important to remember that every visit of heads of state to other countries inevitably leads to the discussion of important issues and the determination of further directions of development,” Cholpon Koichumanova said.
