Number of young people in Kyrgyzstan is 2 million 519 thousand people, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Youth Policy Marat Tagaev at the meeting of Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Science, Education, Innovative Development and Information Technologies, Culture, Sports and Youth Policy.
According to him, young people make up 31.6 percent of the country's total population. 1 million 265 thousand are boys and 1 million 253 thousand are girls.
Marat Tagaev recalled that new law "on Youth" was adopted in 2023. According to it, the age of young people was increased from 28 to 35 years old in order to bring it into line with international standards. Also, a law "on Volunteer Work" was adopted in 2023.
In addition, the country is developing a Concept of the State Youth Policy for 2020-2030. In 2024, Kyrgyzstan joined the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2250 "Youth, Peace and Security" and developed a national plan for its implementation.
