Bishkek, June 11, 2026 /Kabar/. More than 2 kilometers of synthetic fishing nets have been removed from Son-Kul lake, Ministry of Natural Resources reports.

The inspectors from the Environmental and Technical Supervision Service conducted a cleanup Son-Kul. During the raid, illegally installed synthetic fishing nets were removed from the water. In total, approximately 2,500 meters of old illegal nets were recovered.

The agency recalled that the previous day, illegal synthetic fishing nets totaling over one kilometer in length were seized from Issyk-Kul, causing significant damage to fish stocks. In addition, 25 kilograms of household waste were collected and removed.

These measures are being implemented in accordance with the decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic "On the introduction of a moratorium on industrial fishing in Issyk-Kul and Son-Kul lakes in order to preserve the ecosystems of these lakes and restore fish stocks."
