Bishkek, March 4, 2025. /Kabar/. An extended meeting of Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev with Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda was held in Dushanbe, dedicated to key issues of bilateral cooperation.
The Cabinet of Ministers reported that one of the main issues of discussion was preparation for the upcoming trilateral meeting of the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, scheduled for the city of Khujand.
The main focus of the talks between the heads of government was the restoration and further development of trade and economic ties between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized the determination of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic to continue active joint work with the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to deepen bilateral relations and expand economic cooperation.
"I would like to emphasize that the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic is firmly committed to continuing joint work with the Government of Tajikistan to further develop bilateral relations and economic cooperation," the head of the Cabinet said.
To intensify cooperation in this area, the parties discussed the possibility of establishing an Intergovernmental Council chaired by the heads of government of the two countries. Particular attention was also paid to the importance of further developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including supporting and popularizing the creative heritage of the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Considering the prospects for energy cooperation, the parties noted the importance of implementing the strategic CASA-1000 project, which, by all accounts, will unite the energy systems of the two countries, creating new opportunities for electricity exports in the region. The issues of developing industrial cooperation, resuming regular air and transport communications between the countries were also touched upon. The heads of government noted the successful experience of mutual support for international initiatives, including the promotion of candidates for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council and Kyrgyzstan's initiative to declare 2022 the "International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development".
Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda emphasized the significant potential for taking Kyrgyz-Tajik cooperation to a fundamentally new level, noting the fruitful exchange of views on topical issues on the bilateral agenda that took place during the meeting in a narrow format.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that the results of the meeting will contribute to further strengthening partnerships and expanding cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in all areas of mutual interest.
