Bishkek, Feb.13, 2026 /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev and Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda held the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council in Bishkek, Cabinet of Ministers reports.

Adylbek Kasymaliev noted that 2025 marks a historic milestone in relations between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, confirming the high level of bilateral political dialogue and the commitment of our countries to building a sustainable system of interstate relations.

"We can confidently say that today, Kyrgyz-Tajik relations, based on a centuries-old history of friendship and good neighborliness, have reached a qualitatively new level and occupy a key place in the foreign policy of the Kyrgyz Republic. "I would especially like to note the successful completion of the delimitation process of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, which has become a decisive factor in strengthening security and stability not only in our countries but also in the region as a whole. I am confident that the demarcation of the remaining sections of the state border will be completed in the near future. Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized that the newly established Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council serves as an important mechanism for developing bilateral partnership and implementing all agreements reached at the head of state level.

To fulfill the instructions of the two heads of state to increase trade turnover between the countries, it was proposed to develop and sign a roadmap outlining specific measures, stages, and responsible parties. Furthermore, the Kyrgyz side proposed considering the opening of Kyrgyz Trading House in Tajikistan and Tajik Trading House in Kyrgyzstan as an effective mechanism for promoting products, establishing direct contacts between entrepreneurs, and developing sustainable sales channels.

Adylbek Kasymaliev also touched on cooperation in transport and logistics, noting that the emphasis in developing logistics links should be placed on improving border infrastructure and enhancing the efficiency of checkpoints. This includes modernizing existing checkpoints, expanding their capacity, developing associated logistics and cargo terminals, and implementing modern digital solutions in customs and border administration.

"Kyrgyzstan is ready to act as a 'trade gateway' for Tajik goods to the markets of the EAEU, as well as the European Union, through the GSP+ system." As is known, the Kyrgyz Republic is implementing a major infrastructure project of strategic importance – the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which will significantly increase our country's transit potential and strengthen its role as an important logistics hub in the Eurasian region. This transport corridor opens up new opportunities for the Republic of Tajikistan as well," he said.

Kyrgyz side expressed interest in implementing joint Kyrgyz-Tajik tourism projects, including the introduction of a unified visa for third-country nationals in Central Asia.

Speaking about cultural and humanitarian cooperation, Adylbek Kasymaliev noted that Days of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan are planned to be held in the Kyrgyz Republic in May of this year, which will provide additional impetus to deepening cultural dialogue.

He also invited the Tajik side to Kyrgyzstan during the Sixth World Nomad Games.

Concluding his speech, Adylbek Kasymaliev assured that the Kyrgyz side intends to implement the agreements reached within the Intergovernmental Council.

In turn, Kokhir Rasulzoda noted that the Tajik side attaches particular importance to developing good-neighborly relations and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to him, the Intergovernmental Council will be an excellent platform for promoting joint initiatives and expanding trade and economic cooperation in energy, transport, agriculture, and other priority areas.

Prime Minister of Tajikistan confirmed his readiness to implement the agreements reached and further develop the partnership with the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the meeting of the Intergovernmental Council, the parties outlined plans to ensure the progressive advancement of the agreements reached at the highest levels, as well as to further expand cooperation in various areas. The parties expressed confidence that today's meeting will provide impetus for further active interaction in all areas of cooperation between the two countries.
