Bishkek, Jan. 13, 2026 /Kabar/. In accordance with Bishkek General Plan 2050, a tram line in Bishkek is planned to run from the 12th microdistrict to the city center and the Osh bazaar. Mayor's office noted that the tram line is planned to be built along Aaly Tokombaev Avenue from the 12th microdistrict to the city center and then along Kiev Street to the Osh bazaar.
"The order of construction activities and the determination of routes will be determined at subsequent design stages, including during the development of a feasibility study for the construction of tram lines," the statement reads.
Furthermore, citizens have suggested building a tram line around the city.
Regarding this issue, the municipality responded that the tram lines are envisaged by the General Plan for the routes with the highest passenger traffic, covering the main high-density residential areas and providing connections to the city center.
Therefore, the tram line around the city will not be able to effectively serve passenger traffic, the department explained.
