Bishkek, Jan. 29, 2026 /Kabar/. Bishkek Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliev met with Gayane Minasyan, World Bank Environment Practice Manager for Europe and Central Asia, press service of Bishkek Mayors office reports.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the Bishkek Mayor's Office's current initiatives, implemented as part of the "Improving Air Quality" project. Specifically, they discussed the development of the "Green Belt" concept, the pilot implementation of heat pumps in residential buildings, and a number of other environmental measures.
Mayor spoke in detail about key projects being implemented in the city. These include the construction and operation of an eco-technological plant, the modernization and efficiency improvement of the municipal enterprises Bishkek Thermal Power Plant, Bishkekteploset, and Bishkekteploenergo, the cleanup of the Alamudun and Ala-Archa rivers, and measures taken by the Municipal Inspectorate of the Bishkek City Hall.
The mayor also noted that 50,000 planting materials intended for landscaping the city have already arrived in the capital.
"I hope that our cooperation will have a positive impact not only on the practical improvement of air quality but also on shaping Bishkek's image as a green and environmentally sustainable city," emphasized Aibek Dzhunushaliev.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed hope for further mutually beneficial and productive cooperation.
