Bishkek, Seoul outline next stages of Seoul Fitness 9988 project

Bishkek, Oct. 7, 2026 /Kabar/. Bishkek Deputy Mayor Rakhat Musaeva met the delegation from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, led by Park Chan-hyun, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Division.

According to City Hall, this meeting marked the conclusion of the Seoul delegation's working visit to Bishkek, which focused on the implementation of the "Seoul Fitness 9988" project. Seoul Fitness 9988 is a public health program by the Seoul Metropolitan Government that provides free physical fitness tests and personalized exercise prescriptions.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the work accomplished so far and discussed the next steps for the project's implementation. The Korean side delivered a presentation, providing City Hall representatives with a detailed overview of the upcoming stages and implementation approaches, while also highlighting issues requiring joint attention.

As part of the working visit, the Seoul representatives held meetings with relevant City Hall departments and visited the site designated for the project. The parties addressed practical matters regarding site preparation and the future organization of operations.

Rakhat Musaeva thanked the Seoul government for its consistent cooperation and support for the project, noting Bishkek City Hall's commitment to its successful implementation and long-term sustainable operation.

Particular attention was paid to future collaboration between the relevant agencies of both cities, specialist training, and ensuring the project's effective operation following its launch. Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue working together and maintain close cooperation on the further implementation of "Seoul Fitness 9988."

For information: Bishkek was selected to participate in the project under the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s "2026 Seoul ODA Challenge Program." A total of 51 applications were received from 47 cities across 18 countries. Following the competitive selection process, Bishkek was named one of the three partner cities and was the only city selected under the "Seoul Fitness" category.
