Bishkek to launch "100 Days to VI World Nomad Games" countdown board

Bishkek, May 19, 2026 /Kabar/. A ceremony to launch the “100 Days to the VI World Nomad Games” countdown board will be held on May 23, 2026, in Bishkek, the WNG International Secretariat reported.

The symbolic “100 Days to the Games” milestone marks the approaching start of one of the largest international ethnocultural and sporting events.

The event will feature a concert program, demonstrations of national sports, partner and thematic zones, as well as the distribution of souvenirs of the 6th World Nomad Games for residents and guests of the capital.

The ceremony will be attended by representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, government agencies, the International Secretariat of the World Nomad Games, project partners, volunteers, residents, and guests of Bishkek.

The World Nomad Games are an international cultural and sporting event first held in 2014 at the initiative of the Kyrgyz Republic. Kyrgyzstan is the author of the concept and initiator of the Games, which are aimed at preserving, developing, and popularizing ethnic sports and the traditional culture of nomadic peoples.

The VI World Nomad Games will be held in Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 6, 2026. The opening ceremony will take place on August 31 at Bishkek Arena, coinciding with Kyrgyzstan’s Independence Day, while the main sporting and cultural events will be held in the Issyk-Kul region.

More than 3,000 athletes from over 100 countries are expected to participate. The Games program includes 43 ethnosports, as well as cultural and scientific events. The slogan of the Games is “Unity of Strength! Unity of Spirit!”

In 2026, Kabar News Agency will serve as the International Media Partner of the World Nomad Games, providing timely and multilingual coverage of the major ethnocultural and sporting event aimed at preserving and promoting the heritage of the world's nomadic peoples.
