Bishkek, June 10, 2026. /Kabar/. On June 10, the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyz Republic held an event, "Echo of the Issyk-Kul Forum: The 21st Century and the Problem of the Universe," dedicated to the memory of great writer, thinker, and diplomat Chyngyz Aitmatov.
The event was held by the Chyngyz Aitmatov Institute of Literature. The event included the presentation of several publications dedicated to Aitmatov's legacy and the history of the Issyk-Kul Forum.
The presentation included the collection "Issyk-Kul Forum: Toward Global Peace (1986–2026)," which includes materials, reports, and archival data from forums held since 1986; the book series "Aitmatov in the Global Space" (6 volumes), which contains scholarly studies on the writer's work translated into Kyrgyz and Russian, published in Turkish, French, German, English, Korean, and Chinese; and a reprint of the 12-volume collected works of Chyngyz Aitmatov in Russian. This publication was prepared specifically for foreign guests of Issyk-Kul Forum.
The main goal of the event is to promote the ideas of global peace, intercultural dialogue, spiritual values, and the unity of humanity through the works of the great writer.
It is noted that the publications, prepared under the supervision of Academician Abdyldazhan Akmataliev, are part of the preparations for the writer's 100th anniversary. The special role of the Issyk-Kul Forum, established in 1986, in developing international intellectual and cultural dialogue in the lead-up to its 40th anniversary is also emphasized.
The presentation was attended by Arslan Koichiev, Secretary of State, representatives of the Ministries of Science, Foreign Affairs, Culture, and other agencies, as well as diplomats and representatives of international organizations, including Ambassador of Korea Kim Kwang-jae, Minister-Counselor of China Li Hua, Cultural Counselor of Turkiye Solmaz Haberal, and Cultural Attaché of France Etienne Lancelot, as well as representatives of the scientific and cultural community.
Recall that renowned Kyrgyz author and diplomat Chingiz Aitmatov passed away at the age of 79 on June 10, 2008, in Nuremberg, Germany, due to pneumonia and kidney failure.
