Bishkek, March 10, 2026 /Kabar/. Child mortality in Kyrgyzstan has decreased by 73% over the past decades, the country’s Health Minister Damir Osmonov told at a meeting with UNICEF Representative in Kyrgyzstan Samman J. Thapa.
The minister said that these results were achieved thanks to joint programs to improve the health of mothers and children.
“According to the 2023 Multiple Indicator Survey, conducted with the support of our partners, including UNICEF, the under-five mortality rate has decreased over the past five years from 20 to 16.5 per 1,000 live births,” he noted.
