Bishkek, Nov. 2, 2026 /Kabar/. On the sidelines of the Second Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, the Bishkek City Hall and the Almaty Akimat (city administration) signed an action plan for 2026–2030 to implement the agreement on establishing sister-city ties, originally signed on December 12, 1997.

The document aims to further strengthen sister-city relations and expand practical cooperation between the two cities. The plan includes the implementation of joint initiatives in the trade, economic, investment, scientific-technical, and humanitarian spheres, as well as the exchange of experience in municipal governance, architecture, urban planning, transport, digitalization, and housing and communal services.

Special attention will be paid to developing cultural, educational, youth, and sports ties, as well as to the introduction of modern urban solutions and best practices.

The implementation of this plan will help intensify bilateral cooperation, improve the efficiency of urban management, contribute to the enhancement of the urban environment, and create new opportunities for the sustainable development of both Bishkek and Almaty.
