Bishkek, Aug. 25, 2026 /Kabar/. Shin Haidong, Deputy Director of Section No. 9 told Kabar about the progress of construction of Bridge No. 5 over the Urumbashi River as part of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway project.

He said that construction is currently underway on the two main piers for Bridge No. 5 over the Urumbashi River. The first pier, 56 meters high, and the second, 52 meters, have already been built.

"Once the two main piers are completed, construction will begin on the remaining piers and the bridge itself. Completion of the bridge is scheduled for approximately September of next year," he said.

According to China Railway International LLC, the total length of the bridge is 504.69 meters. The picket position is from DK228+983.16 to DK229+487.85.

The design calls for a continuous frame span made of prestressed reinforced concrete for the ballast track.
