Bishkek, Aug. 25, 2026 /Kabar/. Construction of Tunnel No. 1 "Urumbash" continues in the Jalal-Abad region as part of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project.
Yu Yang, the project manager told Kabar that 209 meters of tunnel construction have been completed to date, representing approximately 24% of the total.
"Completion of the project is scheduled for the end of next year," he said.
According to China Railway International LLC, the tunnel's entrance portal is located at DK221+939.7, and the exit portal is at DK222+664.0. The maximum tunnel depth is approximately 95 meters.
The project envisions a single-vault, double-track railway tunnel with a total length of 896.75 meters.
Currently, 189 meters of tunnel excavation and development have been completed, representing 21% of the design volume. 154 meters of the reverse vault, or 17%, have been constructed, and 117 meters of the secondary lining, or 13%, have been completed.
