Construction of small HPPs in Kyrgyzstan estimates $300 mln, Memo signed

Bishkek, Jan. 26, 2026. /Kabar/. On January 23, 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers and Kyrgyzstan Reclaim Co. Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the construction of a cascade of small hydroelectric power plants on Tar River, located in the Kara-Kulja district of Osh oblast.

According to the ministry, the document was signed by Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov and Qiu Chenqi, General Director of Kyrgyzstan Reclaim Co. Ltd.

As part of the agreements reached, investment project is planned for the construction of a cascade of small hydroelectric power plants with a preliminary total installed capacity of approximately 200 MW. The estimated investment volume is approximately $300 million.

The implementation of this project will facilitate the introduction of new generating capacity, strengthen the energy sustainability of the Kyrgyz Republic, and ensure the stable and sustainable development of the country's energy sector.
