Bishkek, June 8, 2026. /Kabar/. During meeting with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev, Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos called the signing of documents on developing bilateral cooperation important step.
According to him, the agreement on the avoidance of double taxation is a significant event that will give new impetus to the development of investment and trade ties. He also noted that these documents will contribute to the creation of stable and transparent legal and tax environment for business and investment.
Furthermore, Constantinos Kombos emphasized that special attention is being paid to cooperation in education and academic interaction.
He noted that scholarship programs, inter-university partnerships, and academic exchanges have been actively developing in recent years. He stated that Cyprus has awarded 46 scholarships to Kyrgyz citizens over the past three years. The minister emphasized that the country is committed to further expanding educational opportunities for Kyrgyz students.
Furthermore, he noted that significant portion of the talks was devoted to cooperation between the European Union and Kyrgyzstan. Cypriot foreign minister expressed support for deepening partnership in this area and emphasized the growing strategic importance of Central Asia, including its role in trade, transport, energy, and regional connectivity.
