Bishkek, March 12, 2026 /Kabar/. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Nurbek Abdiyev reported at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh that 1,547 criminal cases related to online fraud were opened in 2025, of which 830 have already been solved.
According to him, the total damages exceeded 826 million soms, of which about 73 million soms have been recovered.
“Usually citizens realize they have been scammed only after one or two days, while fraudsters withdraw the money within one or two hours. Together with the National Bank, we are introducing a system for quickly freezing bank card funds in order to promptly block suspicious transfers,” he said.
The deputy minister also noted that cases of cryptocurrency fraud involving large sums have been recorded. In such cases, the Interior Ministry sends requests to cryptocurrency exchanges to stop further transactions carried out by the scammers.
