Bishkek, Nov. 5, 2025. /Kabar/. Egypt is a hotbed of ancient culture, a crossroads of human civilization. Obviously, it attracts tourists from all over the world. But this is not the only important factor for Kyrgyzstan. The Suez Canal and major seaports such as Alexandria, Port Said, Damietta, and Suez City provide direct access to global trade. Therefore, it is certainly important for Kyrgyzstan to have a strong partnership with a country like Egypt, Ulugbek Eresheev, an international relations expert and head of the SCO Research Center at the Kyrgyz Institute of Informatics and Information Technologies of Kyrgyz National University, shared this opinion with Kabar news agency.
"The first visit of Kyrgyz leader to Africa has profound political context. Of course, the northern part of this continent is strategic importance for global trade.
Egypt is located at the crossroads of Eurasia and Africa, bordered by Suez Canal, crucial maritime crossroads and meeting point for the diverse interests of global players.
Via North Africa, Egypt has highly developed port infrastructure, vast markets are opening up. It's important for us to have partners in this part of the world, given that Kyrgyzstan is participating in the creation of the Eurasian transport framework, and transport arteries linking different parts of the continent will pass through our country. The most important thing now is to strengthen and develop these ties; Bishkek and Cairo have good potential for cooperation.
Of course, it could be useful for us to learn more about the experience of tourism development. This industry brings Egypt significant revenue, approximately 12-15% of the country's GDP. And this is quite significant," noted Ulugbek Eresheev.
